Back from a refreshing walk with Caspian. He has been sniffing things, peeing on things and for once he didn’t bark on the other dogs.
I’m starting this blog with some old creations so that i will actually get some content. I made this cake on the 23rd of may simply to celebrate the nice weather. It was finally summer!
To make this cake you will need:
- 3 layers of sponge cake, the base slightly larger
- Your favorite jam
- Vanilla cream
- Whipped cream (preferably 40%)
- Melted chocolate
Start with the jam on the lowest layer of sponge cake, then vanilla cream on the middle layer. Add the top piece of sponge cake and cover everything except the base with whipped cream. I like to dab the cake with a spoon all over the top to add some texture. Decorate the cake with strawberries, halved strawberries on the sides and randomly on the top.
To melt the chocolate for the decorations, put the pieces in a small plastic bag, place it in a cup of hot water and let it melt, wipe off the bag and cut a tiny, tiny hole in the corner. Pipe your decorations on some non-stick paper and put in the freezer until completely solid. Be careful when you remove them, they break easily. Complete the cake by piping some whipped cream on the edges.
